Mason Gamble is a 16 year old high school junior in East Hartford, self-taught beatboxer who learned how to beatbox in a uniquely funny and endearing way. Mason was placed on punishment by his parents and was restricted to his room. Most teenagers might have become bored or angry, but Mason got creative and decided to teach himself the craft by watching countless beatbox videos and battles on YouTube. He gets his inspiration from famous artists such as Doug E Fresh, Codfish, and King Inertia. His parents are in total support of his beatboxing gift but they do admit at times they have to reign him in, for example, when riding in the car with his headphones on or in the grocery store he is beatboxing “loudly”. It’s obvious that Mason spends hours practicing and improving his sound. He says that he hopes that by watching him, other kids his age will become interested in this unique and rewarding art form.
